PESHAWAR: Transports community onN Monday staged a protest demonstration against transport department and condemned the decision to change the route permits.
The protesting demonstratorsM assembled at Sher Shah Suri road opposite Cantonment Railway Station. They were carrying banners and placards inscribed with different slogans against the transport department.
Noor Muhammad Khan Mohmand, president of Mutahida Transport Workers Federation (MTWF) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Khan Zaman Afridi, Ali Gohar Khan Khalil and others were leading the demonstrators.
Talking to reporters they alleged that staff of the transport department had badly damaged the transport system by bringing changes in rout permits as well as rout categories. They said by subordinating motor vehicle examiner to transport department was another decision that will put negative impact on the transport system.
They accused that staff of the transport department had been trying to sabotage driving license procedure which also create uncertainty among the drivers.
The department, they said had been issuing driving license after thorough process however again some of the officials were involved in create problems for the drivers and multiply their apprehensions.
