Part of Bhopal’s Kasturba Hospital building collapses, many trapped

BHOPAL: At least 35 persons were tapped under debris after a two-storey section of Kasturba Gandhi Hospital collapsed on Friday evening, Indian media reported.

The collapsed building was part of the female ward of the BHEL run hospital. While some reports claimed that it was an old construction, other said the building was under construction.

As rescue operations were carried out on a war footing many of the trapped have been rescued. Many are said to be grievously injured.

12 people have been rescued so far. Most of those trapped under the debris are patients admitted in the hospital.

Six earthmovers has reached the spot to remove the debris, according to media reports.
