KARACHI: A student, Hamza, who was fired at and killed Saturday by a security guard of another student here in Defence area has been laid to rest, Geo News reported.
According to police, the two students, Hamza and Shoaib Naveed, got into a fight with each other over a matter of teasing a girl at Khayaban-e-Sehr, DHA on Saturday.
Later, Hamza along with his friends and Shoaib with his guard gathered at a restaurant with an apparent intention to square things up but in an unfortunate turn of events their argument led to another, more fierce, fight. And in the heat of the moment, Shoaib told his guard to open fire on Hamza; the guard did the same and killed Hamza on the spot.
Hamza’s body was first taken to his residence at Khayaban-e-Rahat, DHA to allow his loved ones to take a last look at the deceased teen before he was laid to rest. Later, his funeral prayer was performed at Jamia Masjid Umer Farooq followed by his burial in Gizri Graveyard.
A large number of people from a cross sections of the society attended the funeral including family members, friends leaders of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and area residents.
On the occasion, Senator Babar Khan Ghauri regretted that first it was Shahzeb who had to suffer from a tragic atrocity and now it is Hamza. “We must wage a struggle to get rid of this mindset,” he asserted.
The grief-stricken father of Hamza demanded that the murderers of his son be brought to justice. He said pressure was being exerted on police by the influential people (to hush up the issue) but he expressed the resolve to adopt every legal path to get justice.
He also appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo moto notice of the event.
