Josh Gad, an American actor, sat down for an interview on The Spotlight with Jessica Shaw where he discussed his upcoming projects.
One of the most anticipated projects that he’s working on as a co-writer, co-producer and actor is Spaceballs from Mel Brooks.
Updating viewers on their progress, he explained that they are “going out to cast” and “getting the budget together.”
Continuing, he further mentioned, "That's the first time I've ever said that. I hope I don't get in trouble for it. Please forgive me, Amazon. We are very much in the weeds, hoping to shoot by the end of the year.”
Having previously declared himself a “diehard” fan of Spaceballs, Gad also added, “This is very much a sequel. This is very much a continuation of that movie, and, more than that, it's a celebration of all things Mel Brooks.”
Revealing that they "didn't just go back and watch Spaceballs a thousand times" but instead him, director Josh Greenbaum and cowriters Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit had seen Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Robin Hood: Men In Tights, The Producers and High Anxiety.
The Frozen star added, "This is in many ways a lost art, and we don't want to approximate it.”
Josh Gad concluded, "I wish I could tell you more. I wish I could tell you who may be coming back. I can say the wait is gonna be worth it. Watch this space."
