Kendrick Lamar just raised the curtains on his tourmate for the upcoming Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show.
On Thursday, the Not Like Us rapper shared a new trailer for his performance at the Superdome stage, revealing that SZA will be joining him onstage as the first-announced guest performer for the show in New Orleans.
In the teaser, Lamar is seen speaking on the phone while walking the Caesars Superdome turf and he’s surprised by SZA, who gives him a blue Gatorade bath as he teases his special guest for the February 9 show.
“You know this field a lot bigger than people think so that’s a must,” Lamar can be heard saying into the phone. “Exactly. Nah, I been thinking about a guest performer.”
The 30-second clip then comes to a close soundtracked by Lamar’s GNX cut Hey Now.
Roc Nation and Jesse Collins are on board with Lamar as executive producers of his Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show with pgLang providing creative direction, per Billboard.
Additionally, Lamar and SZA are set to embark on a joint tour together after Super Bowl wrapup.
For those unversed, SZA appeared on two songs Luther and Gloria on Lamar's recently released album GNX. Meanwhile, Lamar also collaborated with SZA on her song 30 For 30 from her 2024 project SOS Deluxe: Lana. Their other joint collaborations also include All The Stars and Doves In The Wind.
This won't be Lamar's first performance on the Superdome stage as he made a brief appearance as a special guest in 2022 for the Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre’s West Coast-themed Super Bowl Halftime Show in Los Angeles.
