Unscheduled loadshedding irks I-10/1 residents
ISLAMABAD: The residents of Sector I-10/1 have complained of unscheduled power loadshedding and asked the authorities concerned to take strict notice of the situation.

The residents have been facing over 10-hour daily un-announced outage, besides scheduled five-hour loadsheding daily for the last one week.

They told APP Wednesday that they were facing a lot of problems as it had become a routine practice that the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) conducted un-scheduled load-shedding on daily basis.

The duration of loadshedding had been enhanced without prior notice. The electricity is switched off during morning prayer time from 03.00am to 04.00 am and again for one hour from 06:00 to 07.00am besides consecutive three hours from 09:00am to 12:00am and 01.00pm to 04.00pm.

This is in addition to five-hour scheduled outages, they added. A resident Amjad Ali said that some 15-hour loadshedding had increased the sufferings of people of Sector I-10/1.

He said employees working with public and private organizations could not reach their offices timely due to loadshedding in the morning time. He complained that the load shedding was also causing severe water shortage in the area.

Usman Malik, another resident of Sector I-10/1, said no immediate relief measures were being taken to redress this issue.

"My family have spent several sleepless nights owing to the power loadshedding," he added.

He said it was unfortunate that IESCO is observing un-scheduled loadshedding during the high risk season of malaria and dengue virus.

When contacted, an official at IESCO Complaint Centre admitted that there was a regular unscheduled loadshedding being observed in Sector I-10/1."We receive complaints of citizens but could not do any thing as unscheduled loadshedding is being observed from grid station."

Officials at the Grid Station told APP that people at the power house were responsible as they cut electricity at any time due to which there was unscheduled loadshedding in Sector I-10.
