Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had dated for over a year before getting engaged.
But how the Duke of Sussex proposed to his now-wife is the question he answered in his memoir Spare.
The prince recalled a 'lovely' night on November 4, 2017, when he surprised his girlfriend by popping the question at his home in Kensington Palace.
The 40-year-old said the Suits actress was making dinner—a roast chicken. "I wanted it to look like Botswana, where I'd first thought of proposing," he penned.
According to the Daily Mail, Botswana became a special place in the pair's lives because Harry took Meghan on a trip there during their early romance.
"Spend your life with me? Make me the happiest guy on the planet?", the father-of-two said as he sat on one knee.
However, before he finished and presented the two-and-a-half-carat ring, Meghan interrupted, saying, 'Can I say yes? Can I say yes?'
Harry's memoir was not the only place where the duo remembered the 'beautiful' proposal. They also discussed it in Netflix's show Harry & Meghan.
"Of course, I got down on one knee, of course I did," the royal prince said. His wife replied, "We were so joyful and excited."
Meghan and Harry tied the knot in 2018 at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle.
