It is well-known that Meghan Markle is not on good terms with her family, and Prince Harry’s remarks reflect that.
His comments came in a reply to a question during 2017’s Radio 4 interview, during which he was asked about any royal family tradition he needed to explain to his future wife.
“Plenty," he replied. “We've got one of the biggest families that I know of and every family is complex as well. She's done an absolutely amazing job."
The now-father-of-two noted, "She's getting in there and it's the family, I suppose, she's never had."
But his views received intense backlash within the Suits actress’s family.
For example, in Finding Freedom, a book about the royal couple, the authors wrote, "Harry's comment only heightened the already tenuous family dynamic and foreshadowed what was to come."
At the time, the 43-year-old half-sister Samantha tweeted, “Actually, she has a large family who were always there with her and for her."
"Our household was very normal and when dad and Doria divorced, we all made it so it was like she had two houses. No one was estranged, she was just too busy."
It is pertinent to mention that Meghan's father, Thomas Markle, reportedly never met his grandchildren and son-in-law.
