Morgan Wallen’s abrupt exit from Saturday Night Live after his hosting gig raised eyebrows, and now he’s explaining why he did so.
Wallen was the musical guest alongside host Mikey Madison and as soon as the show ended he said something in her ear and walked straight off the stage on-camera.
Mikey, on the other hand, turned around and began hugging and greeting the cast members, who were also hugging each other and looking around at Wallen leaving.
Now, during an interview with Caleb Pressley's Sundae Conversations, the Last Night singer was asked, "Could you fix a TV, if it was on SNL?" asked the host.
"I could change it for sure," remarked the singer. Pressley then asked, "Seriously, SNL, did they make you mad?"
"No, no," assured Wallen. "I was just ready to go home. I'd been there all week."
Right after he exited SNL, he posted a picture of a private get on his Instagram story and wrote, "Get me to God's country” over it.
When reminded of the photo, the singer just replied, "Yeah."
After his move made headlines, longtime SNL cast member Kenan Thompson, told Entertainment Weekly, "I don't know what goes through people's minds when they decide to do stuff like that. I don't know if he understood the assignment or not, or if he was really feeling a certain kind of way."
"You see somebody before you get a chance to say hi or say good job or anything like that, they just dipping," he recalled of Morgan Wallen’s sudden exit. "I thought maybe he had to go to the potty or something."
