Madonna has long wanted to tell her story of how she came to New York with just $35 and went on to become the top pop icon.

For this, she has now chosen Netflix to tell her story in a limited series, Deadline reported.

Shawn Levy, known for Stranger Things, has attached to the project. The report said the pair have been mulling the idea for the show for some time.

It also stressed that the series is separate from the biopic film the Grammy winner was previously working on with Universal, where Julia Garner will play the Queen of Pop.

“I want to convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer – a human being, trying to make her way in this world,” she said about the movie at the time of the announcement.

Details about the project are scant though it is not clear what the series will focus on the Hung Up singer's decades-long career.

Also, whether the 66-year-old would be involved in writing the show is yet to be known.

It is also pointed out that Madonna last year hinted that she may be interested in making a series about her life instead of a film.
