Sean “Diddy” Combs’ defense just declared that the root cause of the infamous hotel attack was “jealousy.”

In the statement, defense lawyer Teny Geragoes said the hotel surveillance footage obtained by CNN of the rapper beating his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura was due to “jealousy.”

“Jealousy was on full display,” she declared clarifying that Diddy is not on trial for domestic violence.

Even thought the defense team took responsibility for the disgraced music mogul’s past behaviour, assuring that the do not condone it, and accepted that his relationships with Ventura and another witness, Jane, was “toxic.”

Geragos also deemed both the women involved, “strong and capable” stating that both of them they were free to make “adult choices.”

However, the prosecution implied that Diddy exercised “power and control” seeing himself as a “king and expected to be treated like one,” using his image and reputation to “feed his every desire.”

First witness testimony at Diddy trial:

The prosecutors called on their first witness, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Israel Florez, who was a security guard at the InterContinental Hotel in 2016, when Diddy was seen assaulting Ventura at the hotel.

She testified responding to a report of a woman in distress on the sixth floor and found Combs in a towel and his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, on the floor, on March 5, 2016.

Florez recalled Diddy “slouched down, like with a blank stare... like a devlish stare, just looking at me.”

She then revealed that Diddy offered her cash bribe to stay quiet to which she recalled her reply being, “I don’t want your money. Just go back into your room.”
