Leonardo DiCaprio is all set to present the prestigious award to Hollywood legend Robert De Niro at the Cannes Film Festival’s opening ceremony today.
As per Variety, the 50-year-old will honor Robert with the 'Palme d’Or for lifetime achievement' trophy at the biggest film festival.
When the honor was announced, Robert told the outlet, “I have such close feelings for Festival de Cannes.”
“Especially now when there’s so much in the world pulling us apart, Cannes brings us together — storytellers, movie-makers, fans, and friends. It’s like coming home,” added the 81-year-old actor.
For those unversed, Robert first shared the screen with Leonardo in the 1993 movie This Boy’s Life, and then reunited for Killers of the Flower Moon.
During his decades-long acting career, Robert appeared in several Hollywood films, including Mean Streets, 1900, Taxi Driver, Once Upon a Time in America, and The Mission.
