James Van Der Beek lands first role since cancer diagnosis
The actor's family is fully supportive of his upcoming project

James Van Der Beek is excited to announce his newest role following his cancer diagnosis.
The 48-year-old actor took to his official Instagram account on Thursday, May 15, to reveal that he is taking a recurring guest role in Elle, the upcoming prequel of Legally Blonde.
“So, this is exciting… I’m going back to work for a bit,” he excitedly announced.
“Super excited to join this awesome cast in such a fun project. Almost as excited as my wife and girls are that I’m doing this #LegallyBlond #Elle," he added.
The role marks the Dawson's Creek alum's first since his colorectal cancer diagnosis
Van Der Beek's wife Kimberly, proved to be a supportive partner, taking to her Instagram handle to celebrate the actor's return to acting.
“Annabel and I NEEDED this!” Kimberly wrote in the comment section.
It is pertinent to mention that Van Der Beek shares six children with his wife Kimberly.
