Rihanna just returned to the music industry!
The Diamonds singer surprised her fan base by releasing the song, accompanied by a music video, from the new Smurfs Movie animated film.
Titled, Friend of Mine, this track is Rihanna’s comeback to music after she last worked on the song Born Again from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.
She will also be lending her voice to the character of Smurfette in the beloved animated movie, which is slated for a July 18 release.
Additionally, the Work singer has not produced an album since her 2016’s ANTI and has also worked as a voice over artist before in Home along with acting in Ocean's 8 and Battleship.
Rihanna has previously expressed her wish of winning an Oscar for her work, revealing that it was on her list of goals.
"I'd love to get there one day. Who doesn't want to be told they are doing a great job?” she said.
The Lift Me Up crooner continued, "Any validation that your work is impacting is rewarding. I work hard and put my all into everything I do but the rest isn't up to me.”
"I don't think anyone makes an album thinking about winning a Grammy, or makes a movie thinking about winning an Oscar. What you do is work as hard as you can and if awards follow, then that's great,” Rihanna concluded at that time.
