French  rapper Werenoi, who topped album sales in his country during  the two consecutive years in 2023 and 2024, has died at the age of 31, local media reported on Saturday.

"Rest in peace, my brother," his produce wrote on X, formerly Twitter, under the pseudonym Babs.

The initial news of his the rapper's death was broken via AQABABE, a French gossip blogger, which sparked debates about credibility but was later confirmed by the media organizations like TMZ.

According to multiple reports, an inquiry has been announced regarding the staff at the hospital in Paris, where the rapper was treated before his death.

The reports said that inquiry has been announced after public uproar over the unauthorized disclosure of Werenoi’s medical information, which was leaked to the gossip blogger and subsequently shared publicly. 

The sudden death of Werenoi, real name Jérémy Bana Owona, led to speculation around the exact circumstances.

Some reports claimed that conditions like hyperkaliemia and CVID might have led to a cardiac arrest.

According to the local media, Werenoi rarely gave interviews and kept his personal life out of the spotlight which added to the uncertainty about prior context about his health.

The claims about the cause of his death being linked to hyperkalemia (excess potassium in the blood) and CVID (common variable immunodeficiency) stem from reports following his demise.
