Jessica Simpson debuts new hair after Eric Johnson split

Jessica Simpson is rocking dirty blonde tresses with sunkissed highlights this summer following her split from her husband Eric Johnson.

The singer, 43, debuted her new hair transformation on the season 23 finale of American Idol this Sunday.

For the colour switchup, Simpson turned to her longtime pro and friend Rita Hazan, who describes the new colour as "desert sun blonde" and "more natural."

For Simpson, we used the shade Vanilla Lights — her perfect match to tone down brassiness in her highlights," the celebrity hair colourist spilled to People Magazine.

According to Hazan, Simpson "loved" her new hair color. "She was so happy to get a new look and switch it up," the stylist said. "She always had a super buttery blonde — this time we wanted something new and youthful."

Simpson's new hairdo comes after her split from Eric Johnson, 45, earlier this year. She shares three children: daughters Maxwell "Maxi" Drew and Birdie Mae, and a son Ace Knute with the NFL player.

Simpson also recently released her EP Nashville Canyon last month amid the breakup.
