Jodie Foster is an Academy-winning actress, but she has long feared acting in French cinema.
However, years later, The Silence of the Lambs star said she had overcome her hesitation with her role in Vie Privée.
Recalling the reason for feeling "too scared" in acting in French despite being fluent in the language, Jodie said, “I had secondary parts [in French films] before, but I was actually afraid."
“A number of directors offered me projects but I was too scared to act in French. I thought someone who was more familiar with French should do so. But I don’t really remember how things worked out this time around," she said at Cannes, where her film premiered.
Further in the press conference, Jodie said she had “wanted to do for a long time but learning all the dialogue was a huge challenge.”
“The great thing is that when I act in French, I’m a totally different person,” she noted.
Starring Jodie, Vie Privée will be out on Nov 26.
