MQM MPA Sajid Qureshi, son gunned down in Karachi
KARACHI: Unknown gunmen gunned down Muttahida Qaumi Movement MPA Sajid Qureshi and his son in North Nazimabad area of the city, Geo News reported.

The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack.

Police said unidentified assailants opened fire on the Member Sindh Assembly Sajid Qureshi and his son Waqas Qureshi, when they came out of a mosque after Friday prayers.

He was elected from PS-103 constituency of the Sindh Assembly. Reports said, the MPA was ambushed when he came out of the mosque along with his two sons after offering Friday prayers.

One of his sons was killed while the other sustained injuries when he came to rescue his father.

Two assailants on a motorcycle attacked the MPA while some other armed men were also present in a Hi-Roof vehicle to assist the killers.

Business activities came to a grinding halt in different parts of the metropolis following the killings.

MQM ANNOUNCES 3-DAY MOURNING

MQM has announced three-days of mourning over the killings of its MPA Sajid Qureshi and his son.

The party appealed to the business community to keep their businesses closed during the mourning period. It also requested transporters to keep their vehicles off the road in protest against the murder of its legislator.
