King Charles has arrived in Canada on a “short” but “intense” trip alongside Queen Camilla amid his cancer struggles.
The King and the Queen have touched down in Ottawa today for a brief visit lasting less than 36 hours.
Speaking with Daily Mail, an insider revealed that the trip is “short and intense,” saying that’s actually the best way to handle things given Charles’ ongoing cancer treatment.
Despite the tight schedule, Charles and Camilla will take part in several ceremonial and cultural events that highlight Canada’s connection to the monarchy.
"It's challenging, less than 36 hours door to door, but although it feels very short and intense, that's actually the best way to handle it,” the royal insider said.
They added, "The King and Queen will hit the ground running, cram in as much as they possibly can, all without even noticing the time difference.
“And the team will have him back in the UK for his regular scheduled [cancer] treatment as usual."
They shared that the visit has been carefully planned to make the most of the time without affecting Charles’ regular treatment back in the UK.
"This [short visit] does not preclude the possibility of a longer royal tour of Canada in due course,” the source said.
Charles and Camilla’s first day in the country would be very busy with attendance at a community event celebrating Canada’s diverse culture.
The couple would also meet people from different organisations across the country, per the publication.
Following this, the King and the Queen will also meet with the Governor General and Prime Minister Carney.
Moreover, Queen Camilla is officially made a member of the Canadian Privy Council. They will then plant a tree at Rideau Hall.
Their day will end with a reception for Lieutenant Governors and Territorial Commissioners from across Canada.
