After months of anticipation, the three lead child actors for the highly awaited Harry Potter TV series have finally been revealed.
Dominic McLaughlin will portray Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton takes on the role of Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout has been cast as Ron Weasley.
Selected from over 32,000 audition tapes across the UK and Ireland, the trio, each aged 11, are set to begin filming this summer, as per Daily Mail.
The HBO reboot, with a reported budget of £75 million per episode, will adapt J.K. Rowling’s seven beloved books into seven seasons, aiming to introduce a new generation to the iconic wizarding world.
Producers Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod praised the “wonderful” talent of the young actors, highlighting the extraordinary casting process led by Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann.
As per the outlet's claims, the series will also feature notable veteran actors including John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.
While excitement builds, the reboot has also faced backlash from some fans unhappy with the new casting choices.
Additionally, the original cast members, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, have publicly distanced themselves from the project amid ongoing tensions with Rowling, who serves as an executive producer.
Despite the controversies, industry insiders suggest the young stars have the potential to surpass the success and earnings of their predecessors, setting the stage for what producers hope will be the most lucrative TV series of all time.
