Guillermo del Toro to deliver lecture at key festival

Guillermo del Toro is known for his quirky films, so it’s no surprise he is set to appear at TIFF Lightbox to deliver lectures on Canadian horror films.

The event is part of the Toronto International Film Festival Cinematheque. It is titled "From Rabid to Skinamarink: Canadian Movie Madness."

It will run from July 9 to 13. The Shape of You director, through his lectures, will give an insight into the making of Canadian horror films.

According to THR, the noted filmmaker will delve into the following films. Rabid (1977), Cube (1997) and Ginger Snaps (2000).

In other news, Guillermo reflected on his upcoming Netflix film Frankenstein. “Somebody asked me the other day, does it have really scary scenes?” he said at Cannes Film Festival.

The director noted, “For the first time, I considered that. It’s an emotional story for me. It’s as personal as anything.”

“I’m asking a question about being a father, being a son… I’m not doing a horror movie — ever. I’m not trying to do that," he shared.

Guillermo's Frankenstein will come out in November 2025.
