Jennifer Garner candidly discussed the challenges of motherhood during a panel at the WSJ Future of Everything conference on May 29, just days after her daughter Violet Affleck’s viral Yale essay revealed a tense argument between the two.
While promoting her organic baby food company, Once Upon a Farm, Garner was asked in a rapid-fire segment what’s more difficult, raising kids or raising capital.
The Alias star replied, “Kids!” Her co-founder John Foraker echoed her sentiment, affirming the trials of parenting.
Garner shares three children, Violet, Fin (formerly Seraphina), and Samuel, with ex-husband Ben Affleck.
According to Daily Mail, her remarks followed Violet’s recent essay, which recounted a clash with her mother while they were staying in luxury accommodations during the California wildfires in January.
Moreover, Violet expressed frustration at Garner’s reaction to the disaster, calling it “surprising” given her own climate awareness as a Gen Z Angeleno.
During the event, Garner also shared that her dislike for making baby food led her to co-found Once Upon a Farm, which is now valued at $100 million.
She further voiced concern about proposed cuts to SNAP and WIC, programs vital to feeding children in rural America, and highlighted her advocacy work with Save the Children.
