Taylor Swift speculated to pay $1 billion to reclaim her music catalog, but that's not the case.
An insider privy to People revealed that "the rumored price range that was reported is highly inaccurate."
It is currently unknown what amount Taylor exactly paid to buy back her music catalog.
After the six years of drama involving Scooter Braun when he purchased Big Machine Records from Scott Borchetta, the Lover singer announced on Friday, May 30, that she finally regained the ownership of her master records.
As part of Scooter Braun's purchase in 2019, he had control over Taylor's music which she made between 2006 to 2017 with Big Machine Records.
The 14-time Grammy winner had only ownership of her future masters after she joined Universal Music Group in 2018.
Just to regain her control over music Taylor re-recorded her albums released from 2006 to 2017 as Taylor's Versions.
Now the August hitmaker has ownership of her original work.
"I've been bursting into tears of joy at random intervals ever since I found out that this is really happening. I really get to say these words: All of the music I've ever made... now belongs... to me,” Taylor announced in a statement shared on her Instagram account.
