Boardwalk Empire alum Devin Harjes tragically passed away at the age of 41 after battling with cancer.

The late Daredevil star's publicist revealed that Harjes died on Tuesday, May 27, in a hospital in New York City, via NBC News.

The representative has revealed that the deceased actor was taken to the medical center to the emergency unit following severe pain.

Harjes was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer last year.

"He was an artist of great conviction who never gave less than one hundred percent to any role he undertook, the spokesperson said in a statement. "As a person, he was generous, kind, understanding and devoted to his family and friends, a great horseback rider and had a magic way with all animals,"

"His life began with the rhythm of hooves and the open plains—just three days after he was born, his father carried him and his sister on horseback," his obituary continued."That early bond with animals and the rodeo spirit stayed with him and later became the unlikely but perfect foundation for a life in the performing arts."

Harjes, who played the popular role of Jack in The Broadwalk Empire, began his acting career by performing arts in theatre productions in Texas and NYC.

His notable starring includes, Blue Bloods, Orange is the New Black, Gotham, Manifest and Daredevil.

Harjes is survived by his parents Randy Harjes and Rosanne Harjes, ex-wife Shiva Shobitha and sister Trish Harjes.
