Fact-check: Viral claim of Hania Aamir's death in skydiving fall is baseless
Updated Monday Jun 02 2025
A video circulating on social media claims to show Pakistani actress Hania Aamir plunging to her death while skydiving in Brazil.
The claim is false.
Claim
On May 12, an Indian Instagram account posted a short video showing a woman falling into a ravine after her belt seemingly snapped during a skydive. The video is overlaid with the text: “Pakistani actress Hania Aamir’s accidental death.”
At the time of writing, the post had been viewed nearly 7.4 million times.
The video has since been widely shared across social media platforms.
Fact
The woman in the video is not Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. The video shows a stunt in Brazil, and not an accident or death.
Geo Fact Check analysed the key frames of the video and traced it to an original post dated April 21, on the Instagram account of Luiza Ferrari, a Brazilian-Italian athlete and content creator.
The viral clip is a cropped and misleading version of Ferrari’s skydive video, where she is seen performing a controlled stunt, releasing her belt mid-jump before deploying her parachute.
Here’s the original post by Ferrari:
Additionally, Maida Azmat, COO at MINT PR, the agency managing Aamir’s media and communications, dismissed the rumours, stating: “She [Aamir] is very much at work and life as per usual.”
Verdict: The claim that the viral skydiving video shows Pakistani actress Hania Aamir’s accidental death is false. The video actually features Brazilian-Italian athlete Luiza Ferrari.
