Danielle Fishel recalls cutting real hair on 'Boy Meets World'

Danielle Fishel is reminiscing about her days as Topanga Lawrence on Boy Meets World.

Recalling a particularly daring scene where she cuts her hair off, the actress revealed that she actually cut it and handed it out to fans at the taping.

During an appearance on the latest episode of Pod Meets World, which included special guests Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, she said, "I really did cut my hair. It was not a wig. It was definitely my hair.”

She continued, "I had only had one haircut in my entire life and it was when I was two. I had hair down to my butt from the time I was two, and my hair at the end had little ringlet curls. My mom at one point decided I needed a trim and they just cut off those ringlet curls, and then I never had another haircut until that time I cut my hair on TV."

She added, "I was so excited. I was really ready to get rid of it. It was gonna be my first adult haircut. I asked and [co-creator and executive producer] Michael [Jacobs] said at first, 'No, absolutely not. No, no, no.' And I continued, I persisted. And then he said, 'Okay, at least let me write an episode about it.'"

The actress recalled having to negotiate with the producer over how short she’d go with it.

"Right before I cut," Fishel shared, "Michael, our executive producer said to me, 'Show me where. Show me where you're planning on cutting.' And I was like, 'Here?'".

"'Nope,'" she recounted him saying. "'Mm-mm. Longer. It needs to be longer.'"

"It was an actual negotiation," she continued, "and there was a lot of stress about whether or not I was gonna listen because [they] knew I had all the power with the scissors in my hands."

"We gave out pieces of my hair to the audience," Danielle Fishel said.
