Prince Harry’s actions as of late have caused some panic to ensue about King Charles’ reaction, as well as the pure heartbreak that is ‘bound’ to come on.
Royal author Robert Jobson has been the one to make all these warnings and it all revolves around Prince Harry’s desire to change his name from Mountbatten-Windsor to Spencer, from his mother’s side of the family.
In the eyes of the expert according to Newsweek, “Let's be clear: changing his surname from Mountbatten-Windsor to Spencer would've been no small thing.”
Because any move towards this “would've been a public rejection of his father's family,” perhaps even “a slap in the face to the late Prince Philip,” as well because he was the one who “fought tooth and nail” to have it recognized back when he married Queen Elizabeth.
All in all “that would sting,” Mr Jobson even said.
However its true that “the idea of Harry becoming 'Harry Spencer' may appeal to some.” Mainly for those that consider him more to be Princess Diana’s son than the Spare.
But at the same time he would be known as someone whose “always fighting.” But “let's not pretend this would've been a noble gesture,” Mr Jobson also added.
If it had moved forward “it would've looked petty, performative, and, frankly, unnecessary. Another line drawn in a family feud already far too public.”
Before concluding he also urged Prince Harry to reconsider because “at some point, the performance has to stop. A name change wouldn't heal wounds; it would just deepen them. For once, walking away from drama may have been the wisest move he's made.”
