Miley Cyrus just revealed why she does not perform any of her Hannah Montana songs, music which so many of her fans grew up with.
The Disney Channel TV series, which first aired in 2006, starred the Easy Lover singer as a pop singer names Hannah Montana, who lived a dual life, hiding her identity to live a normal teenage life.
During that time, Miley released five Hannah Montana albums, one live and two remix albums.
On Disney’s Hollywood record label, she released three more solo albums, before switching to RCA and releasing her seminal album Bangerz in 2013.
Now, on The Ringer podcast, the Wrecking Ball crooner revealed that Disney prohibited her to perform songs from her Hannah Montana era.
“It’s not like I wanted to,” she explained, adding, “Performing The Best of Both Worlds between We Can’t Stop and Wrecking Ball wouldn’t have really made sense.”
“It was still sad knowing those songs have my voice, my face, and I wasn’t allowed to sing them,” Miley added.
In 2024, the Angels Like You hitmaker was inducted as the youngest ever Disney legend, over which she said, “I definitely wasn’t created in a lab, and if I was, there must’ve been a bug in the system which caused me to malfunction somewhere between the years of 2013 and ’16. Sorry, Mickey (Mouse).”
Since then, Disney has permitted Miley Cyrus to sing her songs again, as she revealed, “After being inducted as a Disney Legend, I was given permission to perform those songs in the future, which is pretty cool.”
