Bruce Willis found smart ways to continue acting after his dementia symptoms kicked in.

Willis, who shared his dementia diagnosis in February 2023, began retreating from the limelight the year prior.

During his last acting projects, including Assassin (2023) and the Detective Knight series (2022-23), the actor had to find ways to say lines despite not being able to memorize.

The Die Hard star’s wife Emma Heming Willis has revealed in an upcoming book that Willis asked a friend to narrate his lines through an earpiece and asked directors to reduce his dialogues.

In the book, titled The Unexpected Journey, Emma shares insight into the beloved actor’s diagnosis and how the family handles his deteriorating health.

Taking to Instagram, Emma told fans about the book, which is a self-help book rather than a memoir.

“I really wrote the book that I wish someone had handed me the day we got our diagnosis with no hope, no direction … not much. Today life looks different for me and our family because I was able to put support into place,” she wrote.

Known for his lead role in the Die Hard franchise, Bruce Willis has enjoyed a long and successful career. He starred in hit films Look Who’s Talking, The Sixth Sense and Death Becomes Her. He shares three daughters – Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah with ex-wife Demi Moore. He also welcomed daughters Mabel and Evelyn with current wife Emma Heming Willis.
