Scooter Braun has just now revealed why Justin Bieber took control of his career.
For those unversed, in 2008, the record executive signed the singer to his label after he saw Bieber singing Ne-yo’s song, So Sick, on YouTube.
While appearing on The Diary of A CEO podcast, the Bieber's former manager candidly discussed the reason why his professional relationship with Bieber ended in 2023.
"They put it on the line for me, too. They believed in a 25-year-old kid,” Braun said. "We were able to achieve some amazing things and I’m very proud of what we achieved and always rooting for him."
The two-times Grammy winner became famous worldwide with his first hit single, One Time, which was released in 2009.
"I think there comes a point where, I understand, he probably wants to go on and show that he can do it. We worked together for so long and we had such extreme success,” Braun continued, before adding, "I think you get to a point as a man where you want to show the world, you can do it on your own. I completely respect that. I think at this point that’s what he’s doing."
"At that point it had been a couple years where I knew I wanted to do something else, and I wanted to find out who I was,” he explained.
"I wanted to experiment with, you know, a different career and we were both communicating enough with each other. The writing was on the wall."
Referring to his retirement from music management , Scooter Braun concluded, "I’m constantly pinching myself and asking, 'How did I get here?' And after 23 years this chapter as a music manager has come to an end."
