Michael Tait has publicly confessed to long-standing allegations of sexual misconduct, substance abuse, and grooming, just days after a damning investigative report was released.

The 59-year-old former DC Talk and Newsboys frontman broke his silence on Tuesday with a statement titled My Confession, posted to Instagram, where he confirmed the core of the accusations first reported by The Roys Report following a two-and-a-half-year investigation.

As per Daily Mail, Tait wrote, "Recent reports of my reckless and destructive behavior... are sadly, largely, true," while acknowledging over two decades of cocaine and alcohol abuse, as well as making “unwanted sensual” advances toward men.

He expressed shame and took full responsibility, calling his actions “sin” and stating, “I don’t blame anyone or anything but myself.”

Moreover, Tait had quietly stepped away from The Newsboys in January, a move he now says was to begin his recovery journey.

He revealed that he spent six weeks in a Utah treatment center and has been sober since.

Additionally, he admitted, “I was living a double life,” while adding that he had deceived not only fans and friends, but also his family and bandmates.

While Tait said he might dispute some details of the report, he did not deny its overall substance.

In his emotional statement, he apologized to those he has hurt, accepted the consequences of his actions, and vowed to continue his healing away from the public eye.

Furthermore, he concluded with a verse from Psalm 51, a biblical prayer of repentance, saying it has guided him during what he described as six months of “utter brokenness” and spiritual reckoning.
