Chris Robinson died on Monday in his Arizona home. He was 86.

"He peacefully passed in his sleep at his ranch near Sedona, Arizona," wrote his fellow actor and co-star MJ Allen.

"He had been in heart failure for some time and is his official cause of death."

Robinson was most famed for his role as Dr Rick Webber in General Hospital and Jack Hamilton in The Bold and the Beautiful.

However, he made his professional debut, uncredited, in the 1957 movie The Midnight Story.

He was also known for his Vicks Formula 44 Cough Syrup commercial, where his opening phrase “I’m not a doctor, but I play one on T.V.” became iconic throughout the entertainment industry.

The actor last appeared in the independent film Just for a Week in 2022 in the lead role of Ted Hurst.

Robinson shared six children and five grandchildren with his wife Jacquie.
