Dierks Bentley reveals the truth behind his most unexpected smash

Dierks Bentley recently got candid and revealed a surprising truth about one of his biggest hits.

While having a conversation with Us Weekly, the 49-year-old American singer and songwriter, whose new album, Broken Branches, has released on Friday, June 13, shared that he is waiting to see how people will react to his 11th album and his new song titled She Hates Me.

Bentley said, “This is always a really fun time. It reminds me of ‘Drunk on a Plane.’ It was in the same seasonal time when this song was out. It was on [the] radio, but I hadn’t played it in front of anybody yet.”

“I’m not sure what the response is gonna be, if they’re gonna like it,” he explained, referring to his latest song, She Hates Me.

“A lot of people told me that ‘Drunk on a Plane’ would never go over [well]. They’re like, ‘Dude, your rednecks don’t fly.’ I’m like, ‘Rednecks don’t fly? Have you been on a Southwest flight?’” the Gonna Get There Someday crooner noted.

It is pertinent to mention that Drunk on a Plane secured first spot on the Billboard Country Airplay chart in 2014, showing it was smart to not listen to early doubts.
