Oprah Winfrey’s 2004 car giveaway is an ageless moment in pop culture and during the Tony Awards, the host Cynthia Erivo re-created it.
After this, Gayle King, a friend of the talk show host was asked by People about The Color Purple producer’s reaction to it.
"Oh, she loved that," the CBS journalist said. "That is so iconic. That is such an iconic thing. It's associated with Oprah. It's always [been] a big compliment, always."
The 70-year-old also revealed she was in the loop about Cynthia's plan. "I knew [Erivo] was going to do that. I loved that moment."
She previously opened up about the car giveaway moment in a 2011 OWN special, “The buildup to that surprise that day was almost more than I can handle."
In other news, Oprah reflected on her decision to have no kids in the new documentary Barbara Walters: Tell Me Everything,
"I remember her telling me once that there's nothing more fulfilling than having children, and 'You should really think about it,' " she said, referring to Barbara Walters. "And I was like, 'Okay, but I'm looking at you, so no.'"
