CTD arrests Emirate Islamia Afghanistan’s Karachi chief
KARACHI: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Sindh Police claimed to have apprehended Amir (chief) of Tehreek-e-Emirate Islamia Afghanistan’s Karachi chapter.

SSP CTD Junaid Shaikh, while addressing a press conference here Thursday, said the accused identified as Omar Hayat was arrested from MPR Colony in Orangi Town in an action launched upon intelligence reports.

The police officer went on the say that Hayat had prepared two suicide bombers to target Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Kamra Airbase, however, they returned unsuccessful due to high security.

He had also killed a police SHO in Peshawar and an instructor in Attock, the officer said.

Meanwhile, intelligence agencies claimed to have arrested an alleged terrorist affiliated with proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Sher Khan group from Sultanabad area of the city.

Sources said, the terrorist, identified as Abdullah, was involved in targeted killing and kidnappings for ransom.

The militants were devising a major terrorism plan for upcoming Eidul Azha.
