Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and journalist Lauren Sanchez have invited scores of VIPs from film, finance and show business to Venice this week for three days of wedding celebrations.
Referring to Luca Zaia, president of the Veneto regional government that comprises Venice, Reuters reported that the wedding and its parts are expected to cost 40-48 million euros ($46.5 - $55.6 million).
The day and the venue for the wedding ceremony itself are still confidential, but the main party is slated for Saturday at the Arsenale (the Arsenal), a historical site in the eastern part of the city.
Meanwhile, extravagant wedding in Venice has drawn a glittering array of A-listers.
Among those spotted at the celebrations are Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Bill Gates, Leonardo DiCaprio, Orlando Bloom, Katy Perry, Diane von Fürstenberg, and Ivanka Trump.
The luxurious affair has captured global media attention with its high-profile guest list.
Curiously, one notable absence stands out: Meghan Markle.
Lauren Sánchez, who is active on Instagram and maintains connections with some of Hollywood’s most influential figures, is one of the prominent followers of Meghan Markle’s official account.
This subtle social media link had fueled speculation that Meghan and possibly Prince Harry might receive an invitation to the billionaire couple’s wedding.
In 2023, Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez were also present at a fundraising gala where Meghan Markle's mother Doria Ragland was pictured with Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner.
The official Instagram account of the charity "This is About Humanity" had shared a picture with caption, "Kim Kardashian, Jeff Bezos, Lauren Sánchez, Kris Jenner and Elsa Marie Collins pose for a photo at the fundraiser."
Given Harry and Meghan's growing profile in California and the Duchess of Sussex's increasing presence in Hollywood circles, many expected their names to appear among the elite guests.
However, despite Meghan’s rising influence and her apparent social media connection to Sánchez, she was not in attendance at the lavish wedding in Venice.
