Rod Stewart reveals why ex Rachel Hunter left him

Rod Stewart has finally revealed the surprising reason behind the end of his marriage to Rachel Hunter.

In a new interview with The Times, the 80-year-old musician said that Rachel left him because she was too young.

Admitting that breakup with the supermodel wasn't an easy, Rod said, "Rachel left me because she was too young — my sister said I should never have married her in the first place — but it tore me to shreds."

For those unversed, the Stay With Me hitmaker was in a relationship with Rachel from 1990 to 1999, and the exes welcomed two children together - daughter Renee and son Liam.

As per The Mirror, Rachel was 21 and Rod was 45 when they got married. After finalizing his divorce from the actress in 2006, the Maggie May singer exchanged vows with Penny Lancaster.

"Now I’m with Penny and she’s got everything I could possibly want," Rod told the outlet.
