Commissioner seeks report on chemical business in city

LAHORE: Commissioner Lahore Division, Imdad Ullah Bosal, has sought a comprehensive report from the district administration on the chemical godowns, markets and other related business across the city within 10 days.

Commissioner during his visit to the recently fire affected chemical godown at Delhi Gate on Monday, said that there is dire need of practical planning and administrative will to stop such incidents.

Commissioner expressed that strict measures would be taken to avoid such incidents and he directed the district government to prepare the data of chemical godowns, details of different dangerous chemicals, number of chemical godowns in residential areas and other aspects for administrative action to stop such incidents in future.

Later, Bosal while presiding over a meeting regarding fire incident in godown, said that administration was responsible for the protection of life and property of the people and administration would leave no stone unturned to fulfill its responsibility.

DCO Lahore Naseem Sadiq and officers of Rescue 1122, Environment, Civil Defence, Industries, RTA and TMA Daata Gunj Buksh Town also attended the meeting. Commissioner said that industrial units and chemical godowns in residential areas of Lahore is a social issue also and to up root this evil from residential areas, an awareness campaign would be started to get support d participation from public.
