Cops backtrack on claims of killing Mehfoozulla aka 'Bhaloo'

KARACHI: The police have backtracked on their earlier claim that a notorious outlaw wanted for multiple counts of violent crimes ranging from murder, extortion, kidnapping for ransom etc was killed in an alleged encounter here on Sunday night, Geo News reported.

Earlier, SSP West, Asif Ijaz, said Mehfoozullah Khan, also known as Bhaloo --which means bear-- was killed in a standoff with police near Kati Pahari area of Qasba Colony.

A contradictory statement issued later says Mehfoozullah in fact retreated and fled away after police had shot and wounded him.

The statement also added the police were hot on Bhaloo's trail conducting raids on his suspected hideouts across Karachi.
