RAWALPINDI: Four serving Major-Generals of the Pakistan Army have been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General, the military's PR wing Inter-Services Public Relations announced on Tuesday.
The ISPR said that the two-star generals promoted to three-star included Major-General Sadiq Ali, Umar Durrani, Aamir Riaz and Asim Saleem Bajwa, who has been serving as the DG ISPR himself.
The army also announced a series of postings and transfers shortly after announcing the promotions.
Lt-Gen Aamir Riaz, who was serving as the Director-General Military Operations (DGMO), has now been posted as the Commander Southern Command.
Lt-Gen Umar Farooq Durrani, who has been serving as the Vice Chief of General Staff, will now serve as Corps Commander Mangla.
Lt-Gen Sadiq Ali, who has been serving as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Bahawalpur, will now serve as the Corps Commander Lahore.
Among the other postings and transfers, Lt-Gen Ikram ul Haq has been posted as Corps Commander Gujranwala, Lt-Gen Hilal Hussain has been posted as Commander Army Strategic Force Command, while Lt-Gen Malik Zafar Iqbal will now serve as the Corps Commander Rawalpindi.
The press statement from the military said that Lt-Gen Asim Bajwa will continue as DG ISPR after promotion.
