KARACHI: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Thursday held talks on new local government system in the province.
MQM delegation comprising Dr Farooq Sattar, Faisal Sabzwari, Dr Sagheer Ahmed and Kanwar Navid Jameel and PPP delegation comprising Sharjeel Memon and Sikandar Mindhero are holding talks to evolve consensus on a draft for the new local bodies system. The meeting was still underway.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan had directed all the provincial governments to hold local bodies elections till September this year.
