ISLAMABAD: Brushing aside reports about the replacement of Sindh Inspector General Police (IGP), Federal Information Pervez Rashid on Thursday said that it was the chief minister’s discretionary power to appoint the police boss.
Talking to Geo News, he said that it was not the federal government’s domain to appoint the IGP. He refused to give any deadline for bringing peace in Karachi. However, he said that law and order situation would gradually improve in the city.
He parried a question whether the government had addressed the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) reservations, saying that no party had any reservation.
The information said that the federal government would play its constitutional role in maintaining peace in Karachi and would extend its cooperation to the PPP-led provincial government in this regard.
