Superman director James Gunn recently shared advice for fans of the DC Universe who have voiced their opinions online.

Known for his active presence on social media, the 59-year-old filmmaker encouraged fans and followers to frame their desires personally rather than as a group.

“Your personal desire is meaningful and has weight, but when you frame your personal desire as a universal one, it rings false and becomes forgettable,” he wrote.

Gunn then signed off with a lighthearted, “Own what you want!”

The Guardians of the Galaxy director’s comments sparked conversation online, with some od DC’s fans praising the insight while others felt it was a bit patronising.

However, his advice comes as the director continues promoting the DC Universe and addressing rumours surrounding upcoming projects.

Gunn also gave his fans a glimpse into his personal favourites of 2025, naming the films Barbarian and Weapons, talking about its bold and unique storytelling.

The filmmaker also praised television as well, calling Adolescence the best show of the year and especially lauding its third episode as “one of the greatest episodes of television of all time,” despite its emotional weight.

Looking ahead, Gunn will begin shooting Man of Tomorrow in 2026, the next chapter in the Superman saga.

The film stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr.

Moreover, rumours revealed that Aaron Pierre, John Cena and the possible Wonder Woman casting could join the project, with Brainiac to be in their must-casting list.

Man of Tomorrow is set to arrive in theaters on July 9, 2027, marking another highly anticipated installment in the evolving DC Universe.
