Cardi B won another court victory after a Los Angeles judge refused a new trial requested by Emani Ellis, the security guard who earlier sued the rapper for assault.

Ellis claimed that Cardi attacked her in a Beverly Hills doctor’s office in 2018, while the rapper was trying to keep her pregnancy private.

In the first trial, the 33-year-old rapper explained that she wanted to hide her pregnancy because she was not ready to announce she was expecting her first child with Offset.

The WAP hitmaker revealed that the bodyguard was recording her, which exposed her secret.

Cardi further admitted that the two had a verbal argument but denied any physical attack, with Ellis claiming that she was hurt and traumatised and claimed that her cheek got hurt.

However, the jury sided with the Side to Side rapper quickly, taking less than an hour to decide.

Afterward, Ellis asked for a new trial, saying that Cardi intimidated jurors by tossing a pen at a reporter.

The mother of four’s lawyers called the request “baseless” and “absurd,” as judge Ian C. Fusselman agreed and rejected the argument.

He wrote that there was no reason to believe the pen incident affected the jury.

The hearing did not settle another issue, which was Cardi’s request to review alleged misconduct by Ellis’ lawyer during the trial.

That decision is expected in the coming weeks.

The September trial gained attention online for her memorable moments on the stand.

Videos showed Cardi B giving witty responses and dry one-liners about the alleged incident, highlighting her humour and confidence.
