KARACHI: Three people, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), were killed and two others wounded in separate incidents of violence in the city on Saturday.
A 57-year-old Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mumtaz Ali Shah, son of Abdul Hasnain Kamil Shah, was gunned down by unidentified armed men Malir Town, within the remits of Model Colony police station.
The body was moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities.
Model Colony police said Mumtaz Shah was on his way somewhere when two armed bikers targeted him to death on the spot. Police said the victim received four bullets in his upper torso.
Police sources said Mumtaz Shah, who previously serving as an station house officer (SHO), was recently promoted as DSP appointed in Central Jail Karachi.
In another incident, the body of an unknown person, 25, packed in a gunny bag, was recovered in Northern Bypass, Baldia. It was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for an autopsy. The body was bearing bullet marks. A-50-year old man, Bota, was killed by slitting his throat with knife in Laiquatabad No. 9 within the jurisdiction of Liaquatabd police station. The body was shifted to Abassi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for an autopsy.
Police said that the cause of the killing was personal dispute. The victim was the resident of FB Area, Block 9.
Polam, 30, wife of Safiullah, was shot and injured in Gulshan-e- Bunaer, Landhi within the remit of Quaidabad police station. The injured was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JMC) for treatment.
According to the police, the reason of firing could not be ascertained.
Muhammad Zahid, 12, son of Abdul Khaliq, was wounded in an aerial fire by unknown person. The injured was rushed to Abassi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for treatment. The victim was the resident of Shadman Town.
According to a doctor, the victim received one bullet in his hand.
