Former national shooter Salman Afridi said here Thursday.
He said all arrangements have been finalized for the Championship in which a total of 35 prominent shooters would vie for the top honor.
It is unique and for first time in the province's history that shooting competitions have been arranged, Afridi, who also represented the province in many of the shooting competitions held under the National Rifle Association Pakistan, he said.
Salman said it is an open competition for all and so far they have received 35 confirm entries from across the province.
Afridi said in the opening round each shooter would have 50 fires in the first round of the three rounds competitions, followed by Super 10 round where a shooter have 25 fires and the final and Super-6 round, the shooter will fire 12 gun shots.
He said the entry will be free for all and opportunities have been given to the Amateur shooters to short-list them for talent Hunt camp. Afridi said each shooter would be given ammunition on Wah Factory rate besides providing other facilities including shooting kits.
He said all security measures have been taken for the players and spectators.
Shooting is a recreational and competitive activity where participants, use shotguns, attempt to break clay disks flung into the air from two fixed stations at high speed from various angles besides targeting birds.
Skeet is one of the three major types of competitive shotgun target shooting sport, the others are trap shooting and sporting clays. There are several types of skeet, including one with Olympic status, often called Olympic skeet or international skeet, and many with only national recognition.
Pakistan skeet shooters got a big boost when they had wildcard entry for London Olympics shooting competition and shooters like Khurram Inam, Ahmed Sultan, Amin Karamat and Abdul Sattar, got the honor of getting Maximum Qualifying Scores (MQS) during the international competition.
Khurram Inam, who had the honor of representing Pakistan in the 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens Olympics, scored 116/125 points during the ISSF World Shooting Championship held in Munich. Pakistan, he said, have potential shooters who got international recognition, Afridi said. We also want that players of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would come up at national and international level to win more laurels. (APP)
