ISLAMABAD: The prime minister’s advisor on Foreign Affairs and National Security, Sartaj Aziz said Friday that talks with the Taliban were in a sensitive phase.

Speaking to the media, Aziz elaborated that further details regarding the talks would be provided at an appropriate time. He added that the anti-terrorism strategy would be presented before the cabinet in the next few days.

Commenting on Mullah Baradar, Aziz said that the Afghan Taliban leader had been released and his family was in contact with him.

“Mullah Baradar’s release was aimed at him contacting the Afghan Taliban to figure out what his role would be in the reconciliation process.”
