Fans have been confused about a legendary musician: Is Bob Dylan dead?
The answer is no, the 84-year-old icon is alive and well.
As of writing this story, Dylan, born on May 24, 1941, has been consistently touring and continues to be active in his career spanning over six decades.
The death confusion appears to have started after several media outlets published headlines about the passing of Nashville musician and producer Jerry Kennedy.
One headline read, “Acclaimed Bob Dylan Musician Dies at 85,” which led some readers to mistakenly believe it referred to Dylan himself.
However, the reports were about Kennedy, a Grammy-winning producer and one of Nashville’s most influential session musicians.
He was widely known for his work on Roy Orbison’s classic Oh, Pretty Woman and for playing guitar on Dylan’s 1966 album Blonde on Blonde.
Kennedy passed away at the age of 85.
Meanwhile, Dylan remains active in his career. He is currently extending his Rough and Rowdy Ways tour into 2026 after extensive runs in 2024 and 2025.
Spring dates across the U.S. Midwest include stops in La Crosse, Wisconsin (March 27); Rockford, Illinois (March 28); Waukegan, Illinois (March 30); Muncie, Indiana (March 31); Grand Rapids, Michigan (April 2); Saginaw, Michigan (April 3); and Detroit, Michigan (April 4).
In addition to touring, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has reportedly spent time at White Lake Studios, sparking speculation about new music.
He has also taken on collaborative projects, including narrating a trailer for Machine Gun Kelly’s album Lost Americana.
Dylan was also involved as a producer in the 2024 biographical musical drama A Complete Unknown.
Directed by James Mangold and starring Timothée Chalamet as a young Bob Dylan, the film was released in theaters on December 25, 2024.
