LAHORE: Despite an approval given by the health department Punjab to purchase new medical equipments, including MRI and Flowcytomitry machines used to diagnose cancer, for Children Hospital could not be procured.
The MRI and Flowcytomitry machines at the hospital has been out of order for the last three-and-a-half years and patients have to visit private hospitals for tests which are very costly, the sources said.
According to a doctor at the hospital, a test costs Rs 17,000 to Rs 22,000 in the private sector.
The hospital officials said they had written many times to the health department to repair the machines but no progress was made so far. (APP)
