ISLAMANBAD: At least two people including Commissioner Peshawar, Sahibzada Anis, received third degree burns after a fire erupted in an apartment here on Saturday.
Sources said that the fire started in the kitchen and spread out so fast that the residents of the flat, located in Al-Mustufa Towers, could not escape.
Apart from Anis, there was also a woman inside the apartment when the blaze engulfed it, the sources added. The identity of the woman is yet to be reported.
Both the injured were rushed to the Burns Unit of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
According to hospital sources, Sahibzada Anis was burned over 80-90 percent of his body, adding they said that given his condition the chances of his survival were bleak.
Anis has been placed in the PIMS Burns Unit's ICU-1.
Police say the fire could be caused by the leakage of gas in the kitchen.
Details have it that Anis was in Islamabad to see off his son, who was flying to London on Saturday night.
